Sept 28 to Oct 3
White Mountain, New Hampshire
Vermont
I am truly ecstatic! The reason for this whole trip is to see the fall colors . I must say fall in New England and especially Vermont is so pretty We are seeing the peak of the foliage and that is not so easy to time. The weather I guess must have been perfect. There hasn't been much rain and the nights are chilly enough for the colors to come through the leaves. All the mountain ranges are splashed with yellows, oranges, browns and reds. There's this whole kaleidoscope of colors and it looks like a painter's palette. We've driven miles and miles through the different mountains and each one has put on a great show. Vermont has so many ski areas and it is a haven for skiers.
For all these days that we've been here, we've had great weather, Indian Summer weather.
We almost couldn't get an accommodation when we were in the White Mt but finally found a cottage. This cottage looks like the one from Snow White. We felt like we were in a toy house. It is only about 400 sq feet but very well done up. It's even got the lacy curtains, wall paper, a fireplace with the teeny weeny couch directly in front of it, a tiny bedroom just enough to fit a double bed and a kitchen with standing room for 1 person. We got some groceries and made us a nice dinner. When we got to Vermont, we stayed in a lovely apartment in a ski resort in the Acutney Mt. We were so surprised as we stepped in to find a very well and tastefully furnished apartment with a full kitchen. It is like coming back to our home at the end of each long day.
We've truly timed our trip well as the rain will be moving in by Friday. The leaves are beginning to drop and with the rain and wind, the leaves will be all gone in no time. And the cycle begins again.
